Open 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. All of Nick's handmade food is prepared in the shop kitchen, in full view.

Nick Foster, brought up in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire has worked in the Ambleside area for almost 20 years, the last 10, before opening Nick's Kitchen in April 2007 (press report), were as creative Head Chef at the Drunken Duck. Some of the awards for his cooking during these years were:
• Pub Chef of the Year 2004
• Good Pub Guide – Cumbrian Dining Pub of the Year 1999, 2003, 2004
• AA Pub of the Year 2002 for England
• Which Hotel Guide Gastro Pub of the year 2005
• Les Routiers North West Inn of the year 2004

His success brought him to the attention of EBLEX (English Beef and Lamb Executive), who invited him to help develop exciting, balanced school dinners for Cumbrian children (more about this).

In his own business he places the emphasis on good quality produce from Local Suppliers which he cooks on the premises.
